Ski Monarch



Ski Monarch is one of the most underrated ski areas in Colorado. Located near Gunnison, Colorado, Monarch provides an alternative to the more crowded resorts with ample snow and gnarly runs. A drive over Monarch pass in the winter is enough to make you think twice about going anywhere else.

The Mountain

Monarch has 800 acres with 63 trails and another 700+ acres of backcountry made available by snowcat tours. With a short hike from the lift Mirkwood basin offers some extreme runs with an 1,100 ft vertical and 130 acres of powder and the mountain boasts three awesome terrain parks. The Area

Located in Central Colorado between Gunnison and Salida, Monarch can get pounded with snow. It is also a summer paradise with several 14ers and an abundance of trails in the San Isabel National Forest. Monarch provides a kid friendly vacation with children ski programs and gear rentals.

The mountain is affordable with an adult season pass costing only $419 and a range of discount lift tickets. There is plenty of lodging available on the mountain and Salida is close if they are full.
